The predominant religion in Zambia is Christianity, with the majority of people associating themselves with the two major groups- Catholics and Protestants. The rest of the population comprises Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews and Atheists (see Table 8). There is freedom of religious practice in the country with a general pattern of association exhibited in all nine provinces, except for varying proportions (Table 9).
