The Report highlights developments which have taken place in the area of the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights, in addition to the legislative and administrative measures put in place to comply with the country’s obligations under the African Charter. 7. The present Concluding Observations give an account of the positive aspects, the factors restricting the enjoyment of human rights and the areas of concern based on the content of the Report and information provided during consideration of the Report. Finally, the Commission makes recommendations on the measures needed to strengthen the enjoyment of human rights as guaranteed by the African Charter as well as other relevant regional and international human rights instruments. II. POSITIVE ASPECTS 8. The Commission takes note of a number of positive aspects in Botswana’s efforts to fulfil its obligations under the African Charter. Commends the effort made by Botswana in preparing and presenting its combined periodic report in accordance with the provisions of Article 62 of the African Charter in addition to the written responses provided prior to consideration of the Report; Commends the participation of civil society organizations in a workshop dedicated to consideration of the draft report on 19 May 2015, and welcomes the information on the specific civil society organizations who participated in the preparation of the Report; Commends the inclusion of information in the Present Report on the implementation of the Concluding Observations and Recommendations on the Initial Periodic Report, which were issued by the Commission in 2010; and Applauds the inclusion of information on the challenges and constraints faced by the Government in its efforts to ensure the promotion and protection of human rights.
