Progress in fulfilling the right of children and mothers to quality health services is a
priority issue in the promotion of dignified life and human security. Eritrea showed
tremendous achievements in this respect. Under-five mortality rate was reduced by 69
percent to 47 per 1000 deaths in 2015. During the same period, infant mortality rate was
reduced from 93 per 1,000 live births in 1990 to 34 in 2015 and neonatal mortality from 34
per 1,000 live births in 1990 to 18 per 1,000 live births in 2015.
