trypanosomiasis, smallpox or any disease resembling smallpox, typhus fever, all forms of tuberculosis which are clinically recognisable apart from reaction to the tuberculin test, undulant fever and yellow fever. (2) The Minister may, by statutory notice(a) declare that any infectious disease other than those specified in subsection (1) shall be notifiable diseases under this Act; (b) declare that only such provisions of this Act as are mentioned in such notice shall apply to any notifiable infectious disease; (c) restrict the provisions of this Act, as regards the notification of any disease, to the district of any Local Authority or to any area defined in such notice.” Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act 421. Section 6 of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Act, Chapter 204 establishes the Environmental Council, which interalia has the responsibility to protect the environment and control pollution, so as to provide for the health and welfare of persons, animals, plants and the environment as follows: “(a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) advise the Government on the formulation of policies relating to good management of natural resources and the environment; recommend measures aimed at controlling pollution resulting from industrial processes or otherwise; advise on any aspect of conservation; advise on the need to conduct and promote research analysis, surveys, studies, investigations and training, of personnel, in the field of environmental conservation protection and pollution control; receive and review reports and make recommendations to the Government on environmental matters; conduct studies and make recommendations on standards relating to the improvement of the environment and the maintenance of a sound ecological system….” B.
