The coverage of preschool education has increased considerably. It increased from 10.6% in 2010 to 11.4% in 2011, then to 16.6% in 2013. The highest coverage rate was recorded in the Central Region (23.2%) and the lowest in the Plateaux region (11%). In almost all the regions (except in Golfe-Lomé), the rate of attendance of girls at the preschool level is higher than for boys, which is a gender parity index (girls/boys) of 1.1% for a national average.
