The next section investigates the effects of violent conflict on women, focusing on phenomenon of women as refugees and IDPs as a result of violent conflict in Africa. The social constructions influencing governance and peacebuilding frameworks in the face of UNSCR 1325 are analysed in section three. Sections four and five address the regulatory and institutional frameworks and processes for peacebuilding in Africa at the continental and regional level. Section six examines the work of the APRM at the national level across the four pillars and the key gender issues relating to governance and peacebuilding.
