Children from poor homes, especially those in the rural areas and regions prone to natural disasters, are more likely to die than those from wealthier homes due to limited access to primary health services. According to the LDHS 2014, only 68% of children have received all three key vaccinations comprising one dose of Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine, which protects against tuberculosis (TB), three doses of the diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccine, three doses of polio vaccine and one dose of measles vaccine.
