The Africa Governance Report their regional visions and plans. Agenda 2063 also mandates them: to serve as focal points for the adoption, implementation, reviewing, monitoring and evaluation of all continental frameworks related to Agenda 2063 by Members States of the AU, to report annually to the AU Assembly on the same, and to facilitate resource mobilisation and capacity development initiatives of Member States for the implementation of the Ten-Year Plan. 7.8 The Status of the 2008 Protocol on Relations between the AU and the RECs The existence and implementation of this Protocol has led to some improvement in the working relationship between the AU and RECs But more needs to be done to enhance collaboration and partnership. 7.9 Recommendations on RECs and their Role in African Governance The recommendations here are as follows: 1. The AU and RECs should improve the coordination and harmonization of their policies, programs and activities. 2. AU Member States are encouraged to sign and ratify the Agreement Establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area. 3. All RECs are encouraged to align their plans with Agenda 2063 and UN SDGs.
