Morocco’s Violations of Political and Civil Rights Since its invasion of Western Sahara in 1975, Morocco has been perpetuating gross violations of the rights of Sahrawi civilians, including murder, dropping napalm and white phosphate bombs that are internationally prohibited, abduction, torture, political detention, kangaroo trials, forced displacement, deportation, dismissals etc. Most of these violations still continue to be practised by Morocco against Sahrawi citizens for their participation in demonstrations and peaceful protest marches to demand for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and enjoyment of their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. 171. Despite the deployment of the UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara, since the declaration of the cease fire between Morocco and the Polisario in 1991, the occupied Western Sahara territories have witnessed a number of demonstrations and peaceful protests in demand of civil, political, economic and social rights. Prominent among them are the following:  The Sahrawi Intifadah in the different occupied Western Sahara cities to demand for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination since 2005. This was met by the Moroccan authorities with suppression, killing, abduction, torture, arrests, trials, invading homes of Sahrawis, forcing
