However, the two major cities include 44.2% of girl mothers and the regions of Niari, Bouenza and Pool which record peaks over 1,000 girls each with a little over one quarter of girls (26.4%). The highest proportion (9% or more) is based in the departments of Sangha (9.8%), Likouala (9.0%) and Pool (9.0%). The rural area that is the least affected by this phenomenon is the Cuvette Ouest with 5.4% of girl mothers. But no rural or urban department is spared. The age groups the most affected are 16 to 17 years with rates of 9.9 and 17.7% of girls of the relevant age group (at national level).
