Policy initiatives and institutions to address issues relating to the assault and sexual violence against women and girl children The status of reporting obligations to United Nations and African Union agencies on progress made towards the enforcement of gender based conventions and protocols. iii. An assessment of the overall effectiveness of the above measures and outline the challenges faced; QUESTION 2: What measures have been put in place to enhance the role of women in the democratic process and in the governance of your country? INDICATORS: i. Evidence of any legal provisions, institutions, national or local programs or policies to enhance women‟s role in society, including participation in politics and leadership positions; ii. Evidence of the number and percentage of women appointed over the past 5 years to decisionmaking positions, including the number of women elected to the parliament, the executive, the judiciary and local authorities iii. Describe the challenges faced and measures taken to sustain progress. Objective 7: Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Children and Young Persons This objective aims to address, among other things, the legal, policy and institutional protections against rights violations against children as efforts to institute policies centred on the promotion of the best interest of the child. The focus of the Objective should be an evaluation of efforts by the state to introduce and enforce measures designed to protect and promote the rights of children.
