Arbitrary Deprivation of Life 153. Zambia condemns the practice of arbitrary deprivation of life or extra judicial killings. In order to ensure that such killings do not occur, the following measures have been put in place: A. LEGISLATIVE MEASURES The Constitution 154. The Constitution in Article 12 protects the right to life which can be limited in terms of Article 12 (3) earlier stated. Penal Code 155. The Penal Code also prohibits the use of excessive force which might culminate into arbitrary deprivation of life in Sections 17 and 18.
