Mozambique has been cooperating with a number of international and regional human rights bodies. The Republic of Mozambique is a full member of the United Nations, the African Union, the Commonwealth, SADC (Southern Africa Development Community), CPLP (Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries) and PALOP (African Countries using Portuguese as the Official Language). In their constitutive charters, these international organizations lay down principles and norms relating to respect, adherence and promotion of human rights to which Mozambique has subscribed. Mozambique has, therefore, undertaken to abide by these principles and norms at national and international levels. 42.
