Mauritius submitted the combined second, third and fourth reports under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in February 2008. The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights has tentatively scheduled the combined report for consideration at its 44th Session in May 2010 in Geneva. The committee considered the 13th and 14th periodic reports of Mauritius, submitted as one document, on 31 July and 1 August 2000. The Office of the Attorney General is working on the next report, which will be ready in 2009. Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women 11 November 2001 The committee considered the combined third, fourth and fifth periodic reports of Mauritius on 11 August 2006. The committee invited Mauritius to submit its sixth periodic report, which was due in 2005, and its seventh periodic report, which is due in 2009, in a combined report in 2009. Action initiated by the Ministry of Women’s Rights, Child Development and Family Welfare (MWRCDFW) for preparing the sixth and seventh periodic reports. Mauritius is to submit the report this year. 31 October 2008 Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment 9 December 1992 The committee considered the second periodic report of Mauritius on 28 and 29 April and 3 May 1999. Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment 21 June 2005 The subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture visited Mauritius in October 2007. Mauritius submitted its response to the report of the subcommittee in December 2008. Convention on the Rights of the Child 26 July 1990 The reservation regarding article 22 (children seeking refugee status) was withdrawn on 4 June 2008. The ombudsperson for children has established a committee to assist in implementing the recommendations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. Mauritius will have to present its third, fourth and fifth reports in respect of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by 2011. 75
