175 Standard 16 is about School self-evaluation and improvement. This is at the heart of the work of Primary and Secondary Education. There are three groups of standards that relate to: • The outcomes which all students should achieve as a result of being educated in school; • The key aspects of the teaching process which lead to students achieving these outcomes; and • The leadership and management processes which need to function effectively for good teaching and learning to take place. 176 The Education Standards are presented at four Levels of Achievement. Level 1: Below Minimum Standards, Level 2: Meets Minimum Standards, Level 3: Exceeds Minimum Standards and Level 4: Effective Practice.
