The CRM gathered, from its interactions with stakeholders, that the country
had a strategic framework for industrial development for many years. The
framework had been formulated around a set of priorities that included:
agro-allied industries; petrochemical and chemical industries; diversified
textile industries; an integrated iron and steel industry; and transport
vehicle and allied industries assembly and manufacture for export. Lack
of implementation was, however, seen to be the major weakness.
